This blog is dedicated to my preparation for the 2013 Marathon des Sables and everyone who's making it possible. By raising awareness to the amazing work that the Endangered Wildlife Fund is doing in South Africa, I aim to raise funds for their 'Save the Rhino' program.

Myths about rhino horns....
Pretty cool initiative from a South African (youtube video below) to show that rhino horns contain the same 'ingredients' as our fingernails. I hope it works and the Chinese government will work towards educating their people that rhino horns have NO MEDICAL BENEFIT in any shape or form!

'The illegal trade in rhino horn poses the greatest threat to rhinos today. The trade is run by organized crime syndicates, who stay in business because of the medicinal myths about rhino horn. Unfortunate beliefs throughout China and parts of Southeast Asia attribute medicinal properties to the rhino’s horn. Illegal rhino horn is sold in “cuts” or manufactured into “medicine” and marketed as a “remedy” for pain, fever,
acne, laryngitis and even as a cancer treatment.'
